Food Tech Companies Helping Restaurants with the Labor Crisis
The following is an excerpt from a Business Insider article: These 9 food tech startups are capitalizing on the labor crunch with tools that help franchisees hire or automate the restaurant workforce
Historically, the restaurant industry has been slow to adopt new technologies. But the pandemic spurred chains to invest in digital solutions to survive.
Now, the labor crisis is forcing restaurants to, once again, lean on automation and labor-saving tech tools to keep their doors open.
WorkJam
[quote_block text= »WorkJam is a labor-management tool that can help large multi-unit operators fill shifts with its open market system.
Available through any mobile device or on desktop, WorkJam pitches itself as a one-stop digital workplace where hourly employees can check on schedules, get training, and track tasks. A key labor-helping feature is WorkJam’s “open shift marketplace,” President and CEO Steven Kramer told Insider.
The open shift platform allows managers to “crowdsource their labor across multiple locations,” Kramer said.
For example, a franchise owner can turn to WorkJam to advertise shifts that are available to workers outside their “base” restaurant location. This allows workers to pick up extra shifts at stores that need extra help, he said.
If the employee is tackling a role where they need extra training, WorkJam provides online “micro” training to ensure that the employee is up to speed before he or she takes the shift, Kramer said.WorkJam has previously raised $62 million in venture capital funding. »][source_block bold_text= »Nancy Luna » caption= »Business Insider »][request_demo_block]
